It's funny how when you choose a word to focus on for the year, you really begin to see and hear the word everywhere. This month, after an especially emotionally challenging week, Nick said, "Isn't it great to be alive?" That's not exactly what I'm going for, but he is so right. Feeling all the feelings. That's being alive.
I read The Miracle of Mindfulness this month, and early on in the book the author clarifies, "from now on I'll use the term "mindfulness" to refer to keeping one's consciousness alive to the present reality."
"Alive to the present reality."
That's exactly what I'm aiming for. Alive to the present reality.
Feeling alive,
on warm spring days. I can't believe it, but winter is finally over.
soaking up the sunshine. See above. Ditto.
outside. I just can't get enough of this beautiful weather.
hanging out with friends. New and old.
on the weekends. We are finally settled in and our weekends are so nice and relaxing.
watching the seasons change. The snow has melted. The flowers are blooming. The trees are budding. There's something about the passing seasons that serves as a reminder that we are alive.
running. Especially when running hard. Or fast. Or both.
P.S. ALIVE in March.
Alive is my One Little Word for 2015. One Little Word® is a concept created by Ali Edwards in which you choose a word to focus on and reflect upon for the year. You can learn more about it here.
